We should change our situation!!!!!!!!!

As far as "BET" interviewing Hillary, asking her whats in it for the black community if they vote her in? I feel thats part of the problem, we depend on one individual to change our situation in our community. We have so many problems that we need to address before we start asking powers outside our community for help. We need for our men to start being men and take care of their families. We need to stop committing genocide every night in our community. We need to start spending our money in our own community instead of making other communities wealthier with our money. We are the only community that doesn't control it's own economics. We need to make education a priority. Some people say the system is messed up and it is, but the system was never in our favor. Our ancestors taught themselves how to read and write when it was illegal to go to school. Frederick Douglass, Dred Scott, Malcolm X and many others taught themselves with no formal education. I know we can make due with what we have now. We have more resources than our ancestors could have imagined.

Propaganda Primaries

With all the candidates preaching about how they're the right candidate for the next presidency, I sense a little propaganda in all their messages. If you listen to every Primary they try to sell you a dream about how they're going to make your life better with one vote. The Bush administration has left the White house in shambles for whoever inherits it this November. No one with any sense can believe that if we elect any of these candidates that the United States will make a turn for the better in the future. With the lobbyist and big corporations running Washington how can we put our trust in a candidate when he/she isn't running the country. We don't have any lobbyist for the American citizen to help keep our interest at hand. It seems that the system is flawed to the core. It's our duty as American citizens to see this and become proactive.

A NEW DAY??

On Thursday night January 3rd, 2008 Illinois Senator Barack Obama surprisingly won the Iowa caucus. This was a big step in American history because 30 years ago this feat would have never have been thought of. Being that "change" is the theme in Obama's campaign. Is American society changing for the better? I believe that a good portion of American society is tired of the same old rhetoric. Iowa is 94.6% white, while its black population is only 2.5%. There is something about this man that is drawing voters to him regardless of race, gender or political affiliation. The Senator from Illinois talks more about uniting the country and about hope for the future. While other candidates continue to bash each other with negative campaigning and fear tactics about the Iraq war. I'm not in a position to put my support behind any candidate at the moment because I would want to hear more from other candidates. On the other hand, if I was going to the voting booths today I would either side with Ron Paul, Obama Barack, or John Edwards. These men make me feel better about the future of America without bombarding me with propaganda every time they sit down in front of a microphone. I also feel that Obama's success silences certain individuals like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh who use race in certain situations to keep the country divided. I'm not saying that racism and inequality doesn't exist because it does, and it must be dealt with immediately. Oddly enough these men make the American public feel that there hasn't been any progress in American society. Also, they're in the position to form people's opinion on critical issues due to their positions in the media. I challenge American citizens to research all the issues and come up with and educated opinion on their own without relying on these corrupted individuals to think for them. We have to realize that these individuals thrive on controversy for ratings and personal fame. We all have a brain, we need to use it and stop walking around like puppets. I look forward to see how the presidential race turns out.

1865!!!!!

PEACE EVERYONE, AS YOU KNOW I REALLY NEVER EVER WATCH B.E.T BUT LAST NIGHT I WAS FLIPPING THROUGH THE TV AND CAME ACROSS THE SHOW A HOT GHETTO MESS. THE ONE SEGMENT THAT I SAW WAS WHEN THEY WERE ASKING BLACK PEOPLE WHAT WAS THE (EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION). THEY HAD TO ASK LIKE TWELEVE PEOPLE AND ONLY ONE PERSON KNEW. I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RESPONSE OF THE INDIVIDUALS WHO DIDN'T KNOW THE QUESTION. THEY WERE LAUGHING AND SAYING "IS THIS A TRICK QUESTION" OR " I NEVER HEARD OF IT. I'M NOT ONE TO JUDGE ANYBODY BECAUSE I HAVE MY OWN HANG UPS AND IM STRIVING TO BECOME A BETTER PERSON EVERYDAY. AS WE ALL "SHOULD" KNOW THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION WAS A DOCUMENT IN WHICH DECLARED THE FREEDOM OF SLAVES IN THE TERRITORYS OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA. AS A PEOPLE WE ALL NEED TO STEP OUR GAME UP IN CERTAIN ASPECTS OF OUR LIFE. AS YOU LOOK AT OTHER RACES SUCH AS ASIANS, INDIAN, AND EUROPEANS THEY KNOW THEIR HISTORY ABOUT THEIR CULTURE. I ALSO RECOGNIZE THAT THE SCHOOL SYSTEMS IN CERTAIN AREAS ARE LACKLUSTER, BUT WE CAN'T USE THAT AS AN EXCUSE. JUST LIKE THEY DUMP DOPE IN OUR COMMUNITY, THEY ALSO PLACE LIBRARIES IN THEM FOR FREE. IT'S ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO SHOVE OUR OWN HISTORY DOWN OUR THROAT. NOW IF THEY ASKED EVERYONE ON THAT SHOW WHO IS "JACOB THE JEWELER" OR "NAME THAT RAPPER" WOULD THEY HAVE ANSWERED CORRECT??????

PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYBODY REGARDLESS OF COLOR, GENDER, OR RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION....

Issues in the black community

I feel WE need to address certain things in our community as a whole like the murder rate, dropout rate, teen pregnancy, education, and family before we address things like don Imus or someone posting racist literature on the internet. I'm not saying that those things are not a problem but in the grand scheme of things that’s not that important compared to our families getting stronger and our children getting a good education. I work with DHS (department of human Services) and I see a lot of situations in our community that need to be addressed immediately. I see some people upset at Don Imus and the kkk, an then turn a blind eye to the drug dealing and murders on their own block. We seriously can't be mad at that situation and not at the 323 black on black murders in the city of Philadelphia thus far this year. Or 11 murders on one Saturday in July... It’s a problem when I have been to way more funerals than graduations... We need to look in the mirror and check ourselves first and stop looking for excuses and playing the blame game.... If all our ancestors could come into our neighborhoods right now would they be proud?????

Nuclear Power???

With an impending war with Iran looming in the future, I often wonder why? Well in recent news reports America feels that Iran shouldn't have a nuclear program. Iran is considered a terrorist state, which is a threat to international security if it developed nuclear power. On the other hand, Iran insist that its nuclear program is necessary for its growing population and technology. Also Iran wants to alter its sources of energy. Iran believes it's their lawful right have energy for nonviolent purposes. I believe that any country that wants to have nuclear energy for peaceful purposes should be allowed to. Who is to say who can have it and who can't? I feel the only answer is that if certain countries can't have it nobody should. This would eliminate many problems with countries worrying about who has nukes and who doesn't. I'm all for nuclear energy for peaceful purposes but I'm totally against nuclear weapons. They are created for one purpose and thats to kill people, thats it. Not to mention, if a country did launch a nuclear weapon there would be mass casualties especially innocent civilians. Nuclear energy for every country or none at all for any country!!!!!!!!
